Practicing Musician Welcomes Dr. Frederick Burrack as Chief Education Officer
Shoreline, WA – Practicing Musician, a leader in online music education, is thrilled to announce the appointment of Dr. Frederick Burrack as Chief Education Officer. Dr. Burrack, a distinguished figure in music education, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the team, having served as Director of Assessment, Professor of Music Education, and Graduate Chair for Music at Kansas State University.
After three years on Practicing Musician’s Board of Advisors, Dr. Burrack’s new role as the top Education Executive will oversee developing and implementing high-quality music education programs, ensuring alignment with Practicing Musician’s mission to provide accessible and world-class music instruction. His responsibilities will include National Core Arts Standards alignment, curriculum development, assessment implementation, educational outreach, teacher training, and strategic planning, among others.
Speaking about his appointment, Dr. Burrack said, “Practicing Musician will be a tremendous tool and contribution to music education and provide greater access to materials and guidance for all ages learning music. That’s what I wish to be part of.” His enthusiasm for the potential of Practicing Musician to impact music education highlights his commitment to making high-quality music education accessible to all.

Dr. Burrack’s significant contributions to the field of music education include serving as the Chair for the National Association for Music Education Assessment Special Research Interest Group and as Co-Chair for their work in developing Model Cornerstone Assessments that accompany the National K-12 Music Standards. His co-edited books “Applying Model Cornerstone Assessments in K–12 Music: A Research Supported Approach” and “Developing and Applying Assessments in the Music Classroom” were published in 2018 and 2020, respectively.
Dr. Burrack’s appointment is pivotal as Practicing Musician continues to expand its reach and impact in music education. With his leadership, the company is poised to further its mission of empowering and collaborating with music educators, students, parents, and artists to create and provide accessible, high-quality music education to practicing musicians of all ages and skill levels.
