Practicing Musician Sweepstakes
"Win a Year of Lessons"
Official Rules
By entering, you agree to these Official Rules ("Rules") and to the decisions of the Sponsor, made consistent with these Rules, which are final and binding on matters relating to this Sweepstakes. These Rules are posted at practicingmusician.com/giveaway-rules.
1 — Sponsor
The Practicing Musician S.P.C. ("Sponsor"), 321 High School Rd NE, Ste D3, PMB 604, Bainbridge Island, WA 98110. Email: info@practicingmusician.com. Sponsor is also the promoter and administrator of the Sweepstakes. The entry page is hosted using ViralSweep, a third-party promotion platform; ViralSweep is not a sponsor of this Sweepstakes.
2 — Promotion Period
The "Win a Year of Lessons" Sweepstakes begins at 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time on October 26, 2026 and ends at 11:59:59 p.m. Pacific Time on November 8, 2026 (the "Promotion Period"). The clock of Sponsor's entry platform is the official timekeeper for the Sweepstakes.
3 — Eligibility
3.1 The Sweepstakes is open only to individuals who, at the time of entry, are legal residents of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia, excluding Rhode Island, and who are at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in their state of residence if older (19 in Alabama and Nebraska; 21 in Mississippi). Residents of Rhode Island are not eligible to enter or win. More than one person in a household may enter.
3.2 Not eligible: Sponsor's employees, officers, directors, independent contractors (including teachers) and agents; their immediate families (spouse, parents, children, siblings, and each of their spouses); and anyone living in their households.
3.3 Entering for a child. A parent or legal guardian who is eligible under Section 3.1 may enter on behalf of their child who meets Section 3.4. The adult who submits the entry is the entrant and the potential winner. Children may not enter for themselves, and children under 13 may not submit any information or answers in connection with the Sweepstakes.
3.4 Learner requirements. The prize is beginner-level online private lessons. The entrant must name one learner: the entrant, or a child under 18 who lives in the entrant's household and for whom the entrant is a parent or legal guardian. At the time of entry, the learner must:
- (a) be a beginner, meaning the learner has had fewer than 12 months of private or group lessons on the instrument selected at entry (school band or orchestra classes do not count as lessons for this purpose);
- (b) want to learn one of these 16 instruments: Alto Saxophone, Baritone/Euphonium, Cello, Clarinet, Flute, French Horn, Oboe, Percussion, pBuzz, Tenor Saxophone, Trombone, Trumpet, Tuba, Upright Bass, Viola, or Violin; and
- (c) have, or expect to have by the first lesson, access to that instrument, a computer, tablet or phone with a working camera and microphone, and an internet connection. Sponsor does not provide instruments, devices or internet service.
The entrant confirms these requirements by checkbox on the entry form, and Sponsor may verify them before awarding the prize.
4 — How to Enter
4.1 Base entry. During the Promotion Period, visit practicingmusician.com/win and complete and submit the entry form with all required information: first and last name, email address, state of residence, confirmation of age and residency, whether you are entering for yourself or your child, the instrument, confirmation of the learner requirements in Section 3.4, and agreement to these Rules. You will receive one (1) entry. Limit one (1) base entry per person and per email address for the entire Promotion Period.
4.2 Bonus entries (optional). After submitting a base entry, you may earn additional entries by completing any of the optional actions below. Bonus entries are never required to enter or win, and no action requires any purchase or payment.
| Optional action | Bonus entries |
|---|---|
| Visit Sponsor's Instagram page (@practicingmusician) through the link on the Entry Page | 1 |
| Visit Sponsor's Facebook Page through the link on the Entry Page | 1 |
| Visit Sponsor's free online courses site through the link on the Entry Page (creating a free account there is encouraged but not required) | 2 |
| Answer a short multiple-choice survey about your interest in lessons (three questions) | 1 per question (up to 3) |
| Name a YMCA, church, school, senior center or similar community organization that you think should have a music program, and its city; then say whether you know someone there who could introduce Sponsor (Yes or No; the bonus entry is the same either way) | 1 per question (up to 2) |
| Answer, in writing, "What would private lessons or music mean to you or your child?" | 2 |
| Answer "May we share your answer with your first name and state?" (Yes or No; the bonus entry is the same either way) | 1 |
| Visit Sponsor's private lessons page through the link on the Entry Page | 1 |
| Refer a friend using your personal referral link (see Section 4.3) | 3 per referred friend, up to 10 friends (30 bonus entries max) |
Each optional action other than referrals counts once for the entire Promotion Period. Visiting a page does not require you to follow, like, subscribe to or otherwise engage with Sponsor's social media accounts.
4.3 Referrals. After entering, you will receive a personal referral link. You earn 3 bonus entries for each person who uses your link to submit a valid, eligible base entry during the Promotion Period, up to 10 people. You earn referral entries only when a friend enters through your link; you never earn entries for posting, sharing, reposting or tagging. You may share your link with people you know who would want it, or post it on your own X or LinkedIn profile. Do not email or text your link to anyone who has not asked for it, do not post it in comments on Sponsor's Facebook or Instagram posts, and do not send spam, use bots or other automated means, or use fake or extra names or email addresses. Sponsor does not ask for, and the Entry Page does not collect, friends' email addresses.
4.4 Maximum entries. Each person may earn no more than 44 total entries: 1 base entry, up to 13 bonus entries from the actions in Section 4.2 other than referrals, and up to 30 referral bonus entries.
4.5 Removing entries. Sponsor will remove entries only for fraud, automated activity or a violation of these Rules, applied the same way to all entrants.
4.6 Your answers and permission to share. Answers you submit must be your own and truthful, and must not include: the last name, contact details or other personal information of anyone else (including any child); health or medical information about you or anyone else; or any material that is unlawful, offensive or infringes anyone's rights. If an answer includes health information, Sponsor will delete that answer (you keep the bonus entries) and will never publish it. Answering "What would private lessons or music mean to you or your child?" earns bonus entries whether or not you give permission to share it, and answering the permission question earns one (1) bonus entry whether you answer "Yes" or "No". If, and only if, you separately answer "Yes" to "May we share your answer with your first name and state?", you grant Sponsor a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to publish your answer, with only your first name and state, for up to two (2) years on Sponsor's website, social media and marketing materials. Every published answer will be labeled "From a giveaway entrant who received bonus entries for answering," followed by "not a current student" or "a current Practicing Musician student," whichever is true when published. Sponsor may shorten your answer (marking left-out words with "…") and correct spelling, but will not add words, change your meaning or present your answer out of context, and will remove any child's name. You may withdraw permission at any time by emailing info@practicingmusician.com, and Sponsor will remove your answer from content it controls within 10 business days. Survey answers and organization nominations are used for Sponsor's internal research and outreach and will not be published with your name. Naming an organization does not mean the organization endorses Sponsor or this Sweepstakes, and no organization will receive anything as a result of a nomination.
4.7 Entry conditions. Entries that are incomplete, illegible, late, generated by script, macro or other automated means, or submitted by anyone who tampers with the entry process are void. Entries are deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address used to enter. Proof of submission is not proof of receipt. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected or technically failed entries.
5 — Prize
One (1) Grand Prize — ARV: $900
A one-year Practicing Musician online private lesson subscription for one beginner learner: up to 48 weekly 10-minute one-on-one online lessons with a Practicing Musician teacher, plus assigned video tutorials, practice assignments, demonstration videos and sheet music included in Sponsor's annual plan. This is the only prize. Total ARV of all prizes: $900.
5.2 Prize conditions.
- Lessons are online only and are beginner-level instruction on one of the 16 instruments listed in Section 3.4.
- Lessons must begin by January 15, 2027, or, if Sponsor cannot offer a teacher and lesson time before then, within 14 days after Sponsor first offers one. Lessons expire 12 months after the first lesson. Lessons canceled by Sponsor or a teacher will be rescheduled, and the 12-month period will be extended if needed.
- Teacher assignment depends on teacher availability. The learner may change teachers, or switch to another of the 16 instruments listed in Section 3.4, by emailing info@practicingmusician.com; remaining lessons carry over.
- The prize does not include an instrument, accessories, device or internet service, which are the winner's responsibility.
- Before the first lesson, the winner may, with Sponsor's approval, change the learner to another person who meets Section 3.4. The prize may not otherwise be transferred.
- The prize has no cash value and may not be exchanged for cash or any other item. No cash or other substitution or alternative will be offered, except that Sponsor may, at its sole discretion and to the extent permitted by law, substitute a prize of equal or greater value if the prize cannot be provided as described.
- The winner is responsible for any taxes on the prize value. If the actual value is less than the stated ARV, the difference will not be awarded.
6 — Odds
Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received during the Promotion Period.
7 — Winner Selection & Notification
7.1 On or about November 10, 2026, Sponsor will select one (1) potential winner in a random drawing from all eligible entries received, using the random selection tool of its entry platform. Each eligible entry has an equal chance of selection. Sponsor will also draw alternates, in order. Entrants do not need to be present at the drawing to win.
7.2 The potential winner will be notified by email at the address used to enter, on or about November 10, 2026, and must respond within seventy-two (72) hours after the first notification email is sent, confirming eligibility on a short eligibility form. Sponsor will send a reminder email about 24 hours after the first. Please check spam and junk folders. Sponsor may ask for reasonable proof of age and residency. The potential winner is not a winner until eligibility is verified.
7.3 If the potential winner cannot be reached, does not respond within the time stated in Section 7.2, is found ineligible, or declines the prize, the potential winner forfeits the prize and Sponsor will offer it to the next alternate. If the alternates run out, Sponsor will draw more alternates at random from all remaining eligible entries until a verified eligible winner is found. The prize will be awarded. If the verified winner has already bought a 3-month plan under Section 9, Sponsor will refund that purchase on request.
7.4 Winner check-ins. As a condition of accepting the prize, the winner (or, for a child learner, the winner as parent or guardian) agrees to take part in two brief check-ins with Sponsor, at about 30 days and about 90 days after the first lesson, by email, form or short video call. Check-ins are with the adult winner only; the child learner does not need to take part, and calls will not be recorded. Sponsor will ask for honest feedback about the learner's experience. Missing a check-in will not cancel or reduce the prize. Feedback will be published only with the winner's separate, optional publicity consent under Section 8. Sponsor will not ask the winner to post a review on Google, Yelp or any other review site.
8 — Publicity (Optional)
Except where prohibited by law, Sponsor may ask the winner to sign a separate, optional publicity consent allowing Sponsor to use the winner's first name, last initial, state, the learner's first name and instrument, and (only if the winner chooses) feedback, photo, voice or video, in announcements and advertising for up to two (2) years, without further compensation. Signing the publicity consent is optional for every winner, and declining will not affect the winner's right to receive the prize. For a child learner, only the parent or guardian may give consent; no last name, school or location below the state level will be published; and no child's information will be published without that separate written consent. Sponsor will announce the winner publicly only with the winner's consent. Regardless of consent, Sponsor will give the winner's first name, last initial and state to anyone who requests the winner's name under Section 15, and any other information required by law.
9 — Thank-You Offers for Entrants (Not a Prize; Not Part of the Drawing)
These offers are separate from the Sweepstakes. They are not prizes, are not awarded by chance, and do not affect anyone's chance of winning. They become available on November 13, 2026, after the drawing. In this Section, "entrant" means anyone who submitted a valid base entry and was not disqualified.
9.1 Codes. On November 13, 2026, Sponsor will send one email to every entrant who has not unsubscribed, containing an early-bird code and a thank-you code. Both codes may be used between 12:00 a.m. PT on November 13, 2026 and 11:59:59 p.m. PT on November 22, 2026 to enroll in a 3-month Practicing Musician private lesson plan (regular price $250).
9.2 Early-bird offer. The early-bird code gives 50% off ($125 for the 3-month plan) for the first ten (10) enrollments completed with it, in the order recorded by Sponsor's systems. After ten enrollments have used it, the early-bird code stops working and you can use the thank-you code instead.
9.3 Thank-you offer. The thank-you code gives 25% off ($187.50 for the 3-month plan). There is no limit on the number of entrants who may use it.
9.4 Offer terms.
- One discounted enrollment per entrant. Codes cannot be combined with each other or with any other discount, and cannot be redeemed for cash.
- Offers apply to beginner-level online lessons on the 16 instruments in Section 3.4.
- Sponsor can usually offer a new student a first lesson within two (2) weeks of enrolling. If Sponsor cannot offer you a first lesson time within two weeks, Sponsor will email you an expected start date.
- Your 3-month plan begins on the date of your first lesson, not the date of purchase.
- You may cancel for a full refund at any time before your first lesson by emailing info@practicingmusician.com. If Sponsor has not offered you a first lesson time within 60 days after you enroll, Sponsor will refund you in full automatically unless you tell Sponsor you want to keep waiting. Refunds go to your original payment method within 10 business days.
- Anyone who enrolls by November 22, 2026 keeps the discounted price no matter when their lessons begin.
- After your discounted 3 months, the plan renews automatically at Sponsor's regular price of $250 every 3 months, charged to the payment method you used, until you cancel. Sponsor will email you a reminder 7 to 30 days before your first full-price renewal. You may cancel anytime before a renewal date by emailing info@practicingmusician.com.
10 — Privacy
Information you submit is collected by Sponsor, using ViralSweep as its service provider. Sponsor will use it to administer the Sweepstakes (an entry confirmation, up to two reminder emails during the Promotion Period, and winner notices), verify eligibility, award the prize, and send you up to three emails about the thank-you offers in Section 9 between November 13 and 22, 2026. If you tell Sponsor you know someone at an organization you named, Sponsor may email you once to ask whether you would be willing to introduce Sponsor. Sponsor will send you other lesson news and offers only if you tick the separate box agreeing to receive them. Every promotional email includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing does not affect your entries or winner notices. Entering does not sign you up for text messages.
Sponsor does not sell entrant information or share it for targeted advertising. Information about a child (whether you are entering for a child, and the instrument) must be provided by the child's parent or guardian. If Sponsor learns that a child under 13 submitted information, Sponsor will delete it.
Sponsor will delete entry information from its systems and its ViralSweep account within 12 months after the Promotion Period ends, except winner records kept as required by law and information you separately chose to give Sponsor (such as a marketing email subscription, a courses account, a lesson enrollment, or an answer you allowed Sponsor to share), which is kept under Sponsor's Privacy Policy. To ask to see or delete your information, email info@practicingmusician.com. See Sponsor's Privacy Policy at practicingmusician.com/privacy-policy.
11 — Platform Release
This Sweepstakes is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Instagram, Facebook or Meta Platforms, Inc. By entering, each entrant fully releases Instagram, Facebook and Meta Platforms, Inc. from any and all liability in connection with this Sweepstakes. Questions about the Sweepstakes should be directed to Sponsor, not to any platform.
12 — General Conditions
12.1 Sponsor may disqualify any person who tampers with the entry process or the operation of the Sweepstakes, violates these Rules, or acts in a fraudulent or disruptive manner.
12.2 If the Sweepstakes cannot run as planned because of fraud, technical failure, a virus, unauthorized intervention or any other cause beyond Sponsor's reasonable control that corrupts or affects its administration, security or fairness, Sponsor may, subject to applicable law, cancel, modify or suspend the Sweepstakes and, if canceled, award the prize by random drawing from eligible entries received before the problem occurred.
12.3 Sponsor will not change these Rules during the Promotion Period except to correct an obvious error or as required by law, and will post any such change at practicingmusician.com/giveaway-rules.
12.4 If any advertising, post, email or other Sweepstakes material conflicts with these Rules, these Rules control. The Sweepstakes is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws.
13 — Release and Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, by entering, entrants release Sponsor and its officers, directors, employees, contractors and agents from any claims, losses or damages arising from participation in the Sweepstakes or the acceptance or use of the prize, except claims arising from Sponsor's gross negligence or willful misconduct. Sponsor is not responsible for typographical errors in these Rules or for technical failures outside its reasonable control, but no error will reduce or prevent the award of the prize described in Section 5. Nothing in these Rules limits any rights you have that cannot be waived under applicable law.
14 — Governing Law
These Rules are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Except where prohibited, any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Kitsap County, Washington.
